Dutchess Man, 23, Among Trio Nabbed After State Police Pursuit

A man from Hopewell Junction was one of three individuals arrested after a pursuit by state police.

New York State Police say they observed a driver commit a violation and attempted to initiate a traffic stop near on I-90 near Exit 24 in the town of Guilderland on Sunday, July 28 around 2 a.m.

The driver sped away, and officers say a pursuit ensued for approximately two miles. The driver then allegedly crashed into a guide rail after going through the exit 25 toll plaza, police say.

Three male suspects were taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, according to police. The driver was identified as Nicholas Torres, 23, of Hopewell Junction. Two of the vehicle’s passengers, identified as Rayquan Williams, 23, of Schenectady and Quaran Williams, 24, of the Bronx, were also involved in the foot chase and apprehended, police say.

The other two passengers in the vehicle were interviewed, released at the scene and have not been charged.

Police say they also discovered fake IDs located inside the vehicle.

Rayquan Williams and Quaran Williams were charged with second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony, and second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, a Class A misdemeanor. They were remanded to Albany County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Torres faces the following charges:

  • First-degree reckless endangerment, a Class D felony (five counts)
  • Second-degree possession of a forged instrument, a Class D felony
  • Third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor
  • Second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a Class A misdemeanor
  • Reckless endangerment of property, a Class B misdemeanor
  • Reckless driving, an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Several vehicle and traffic violations

Torres was remanded to the Albany County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. No return court date is available at this time.
